ABOUT PTEAZER PARTS and ACCESSORIES


Pteazer urethane and fiberglass components are handmade in the United States using the highest quality polyester resin and glass fiber reinforcement. The surface is primer grade gel-coat. This gel-coat reduces paint preparation time since it contains no wax and is easier to sand than high gloss gel-coat that is traditionally found on fiberglass consumer products such as boats.

Fiberglass hoods have traditionally experienced difficulty with fiber print through.
This print through is the fiber-reinforcing pattern becoming visible when the hood is exposed to the sun and engine compartment temperatures. Pteazer hoods are fabricated with a proprietary process, which minimizes fiber print through. This process means less paint preparation time and much less print through in the finished product.

Fabrication process: A female mold is sprayed with gel-coat and allowed to cure. For the hoods, a ceramic barrier coating is sprayed behind the gel-coat. A mixture of resin and glass reinforcement is then applied and de-bulked by hand. This reduces the resin content and eliminates air voids in the composite part. Some parts receive a layer of coremat and an additional layer of fiberglass to develop the required stiffness. The hood is post cured at elevated temperature. Parts are de-molded and trimmed of excess flash. Any surface imperfections are repaired. The parts are fitted to our master jigs and boxed for shipment.

Parts are ready to be prepared for paint when you receive them. The quality of your finished paint job is greatly influenced by the attention to detail at this stage. A concourse quality job for a show car will require painstaking detail. All jobs require detail sanding, priming and painting.
