URETHANE VS. ABS PLASTIC

1. Toughness: PTeazer's Urethane parts are virtually unbreakable parts that can take everyday bumps and abuses unlike ABS plastics that can shatter and break.

2. Rigidity: PTeazer's Urethane parts bend and remain pliable after years of wear unlike ABS plastics that are brittle and stiff and become more brittle and stiff with climate changes and age.

3. Lifespan: All PTeazer Urethane parts carry a Lifetime Warranty* as compared to ABS plastics which offer a limited warranty if any at all.

4. Urethane parts are easily painted: All parts are shipped ready for prep and paint. No silicone mold releases are ever used in the manufacturing process.

5. Quality: PTeazer uses only OEM quality urethane. PTeazer Urethane parts are as good or better than the original factory parts. Urethane parts are molded in one piece -no important mounting brackets or flanges are glued on -like they are on ABS. You will never find ABS parts on a factory vehicle.

6. Ease of Installation: PTeazer Urethane parts use factory lights, factory mounting points and factory hardware. PTeazer parts fit right the first time saving the body shop valuable installation time.

7. No Electrical Cutting: PTeazer Urethane Rollpan uses factory back-up lights eliminating any problems involved with the cutting of the original wiring harness when you install the additional lights required with an ABS Rollpan.

8. No Additional Expense: PTeazer Urethane Parts include everything you need to install every part unlike ABS Parts that require you to purchase additional lights and fittings to complete the installation.

BENEFITS OF URETHANE
Urethane VS ABS Plastic

Urethane parts are manufactured using urethane rim mold production. High temperature urethane is injected into a sealed mold made up of several shapes bolted together to form a pressurized cavity. This method allows a constant controllable thickness of each finished part every time. It also allows the flanges and attachment pieces to be built right into the finished article leaving nothing to be glued or attached as an afterthought.

The urethane mold produces a consistent quality every time. There is never a question of thickness or bonding strength, as the entire part is one solid object. It is the mold that has several separate pieces -not the part itself!

Urethane rim molds are much more expensive to produce than vacuum forms. And the cost of polyurethane itself is far more than ABS plastic. PTeazer urethane parts cost more to produce than ABS plastic. OEM's (original equipment manufacturers) would never use or sell ABS parts and neither would we. Don't be fooled -in this case you do get what you pay for.

ABS plastic parts are vacuum formed. This method is the fastest and cheapest method of production. A sheet of plastic is melted and vacuumed onto a one-piece mold covered with a series of tiny holes. The molded plastic is cooled, lifted off and trimmed. Because it is not possible to incorporate any odd shapes with this mold, the mounting brackets, flanges and/or any additional end pieces must be glued on later. In addition, when the heated plastic melts over the mold, it becomes thin in areas that stretch around corners and curves creating inconsistent thickness and vulnerable areas for potential stress cracks.

At a glance ABS may appear similar to Urethane but its inherent inconsistencies renders it far inferior by comparison. ABS is also far more rigid than Urethane and becomes more and more brittle with climate changes and age. This leaves ABS prone to cracking and splitting. That in combination with a fear of the glued parts vibrating loose - it is no wonder you will never see ABS parts on an OEM vehicle -or a PTeazer….
